Jenny Anstey

Interim Hospital Director

Jennifer Anstey is Interim Hospital Director at Sulis Hospital Bath. She joined the team in November 2019 at the Head of Nursing and Allied Health Professionals. Jenny trained as a registered nurse in North Devon District Hospital over 30 years ago and has worked in a surgical setting for the majority of that time. She was charge nurse in Florida, USA for two years on a general surgical ward, then completed her cardiothoracic ENB course at Papworth Hospital in Cambridgeshire.

Jenny then moved to Bupa Hospitals in Bristol (now Spire) to continue caring for cardiac surgical patients and moved to a Matron post in Specialised Services at University Hospitals Bristol Foundation Trust in 2009, covering cardiology, cardiac surgery, haematology and oncology, but also working in surgery and gynaecology during that period. She spent a year in Community Nursing as a lead for Innovation, Safety and Research before joining the team here at Sulis Hospital Bath.


Mr Andrew Chambler

Clinical Chairman, Consultant & CU Lead

Andrew is the Clinical Chairman at Sulis Hospital Bath. He has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in the UK for the past 14 years, having qualified at St Mary’s Hospital medical School, part of Imperial College, in London.

He gained his Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship with Professor Carr in Oxford and has since been awarded travelling fellowships to UK & Europe as well as to the world renowned Mayo Clinic in the USA, by the British Elbow & Shoulder Society.

Prior to joining Sulis Hospital Bath, he was Clinical Director of Orthopaedics at Yeovil District Hospital where he developed the shoulder & elbow service. He concentrated on advanced arthroscopic techniques and joint replacement but also lead on quality control through the audit of surgical outcomes.

Whilst continuing at Yeovil, in 2010 he joined Sulis Hospital Bath as a surgical partner to promote a new healthcare provider for the NHS as well as private patients. In 2013 he moved full-time to Sulis Hospital Bath as the first Executive Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon working at both the Reading and Bath hospitals.

Tim Penrose

Head of Operations

Tim is a Chartered Engineer who joined Sulis Hospital Bath in 2019, having previously worked for NHS Community and Acute Trusts within the South-West and Shropshire. He has been responsible for ensuring prioritisation and delivery of capital replacement schemes and as a senior manager within Estates, Facilities and Operations.

Career highlights include chairing the South-West Clinical Engineering Group, teaching for the Clinical Engineering Practitioner Training Program at UWE and supporting the transfer of Women’s and Children’s Services from Shrewsbury to Telford hospitals. Throughout his career, he has undertaken services reviews to ensure financial sustainability and modernisation of services to provide support to clinical functions.

Travis Kitchen

Head of Finance and Performance

Travis is a qualified Chartered Accountant and joined Sulis Hospital Bath in October 2018, as a Management Accountant. He later moved to Head of Finance and Performance for the site in 2019.

Prior to this, Travis has worked within the healthcare industry as a Management Accountant, overseeing the financial performance of different service areas. This included service transformation, to bring areas of the business back into financial health and leading on business growth opportunities, including the mobilisation of new services and tender bids.

Sam Harrison

Head of Marketing and Business Development

Sam is the Head of Marketing and Business Development at Sulis Hospital Bath. He joined the hospital as the Business Development Lead in September 2018. Prior to this Sam has been involved in various commercial and marketing roles including serving over seven years as a marketer, four of which were spent with Spire Healthcare. He has extensive knowledge of promoting private healthcare services to key stakeholders and has implemented many large healthcare marketing campaigns across digital and traditional media.

He is also a Certified Digital Marketing Professional having completed a Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing, and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and Business Management.

By Car

Sulis Hospital is located 6 miles south of Bath city centre. Travelling from Bath, head south west on the A367. After you pass the Audi and Mercedes-Benz dealerships on your left take the first exit on the roundabout into Wellow Lane. Then take the first left into Foxcote Avenue and the Bath Business Park. Sulis Hospital is located immediately on your right hand side and the entrance is opposite the entrance to Mercedes-Benz.


A visitors' car park is located directly in front of the hospital. This is free of charge to patients and visitors.

By Public Transport

There are regular buses to Peasedown St John. Please note the nearest bus stop is a short walk.
