Sulis Hospital Celebrates Compassion, Commitment and Excellence at Annual Recognition Awards
Sulis Hospital hosted its annual Celebration Event at the Guildhall in Bath on 18th October, bringing together colleagues to honour the compassion, dedication and excellence that define its teams.
The event was a celebration of our incredible team members who go above and beyond every day, showing exceptional dedication, compassion and kindness in their roles.
Special Recognition Awards were presentation to staff who were thoughtfully nominated by their colleagues across the hospital - a true reflection of the admiration and appreciation felt by those who work alongside them.
In total, more than 35 awards were given, each one honouring the care, commitment and positivity that make our hospital such a special place to be. Winners were celebrated with warm words from colleagues, including:
- Elizabeth from Hospitality - "Elizabeth is always respectful with impeccable customer service. She brings warmth and positivity to every interaction and can always be found happy and smiling."
- Kelly-Anne from Inpatients - "Kelly-Anne is consistently helpful and approachable even when busy. She handles her duties with grace and always has a smile."
- Kyu-Jin from Pharmacy - "Kyu-Jin is dedicated to develop his skills and ensures his team is fully supported. His commitment makes a real difference every day."
- Carly from Pre-Assessment - "Carly is a great team player - compassionate, efficient and organised with a happy positive attitude alongside all in the department."
- John from Radiology who is "John is an asset to the team and gives everyone the time, guidance and compassion they need."
- Matthew from Supplies - "Matt shows continuous improvement to rapid changes in process and structure and always has a positive attitude."
The evening underscored Sulis Hospital’s strong culture of appreciation and staff wellbeing. The hospital recently achieved a 90% “friends and family” score in its latest staff survey, a testament to its values led leadership and supportive working environment. The 2025 survey also highlighted high levels of trust and camaraderie, with over 80% of staff recommending Sulis as a great place to work.
Senior leaders from Sulis Hospital, Royal United Hospitals Bath, and the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board were in attendance.
The evening also featured a charity raffle, raising £672 in support of Bath Food Bank and Bath Mind. Sulis Hospital extends sincere thanks to the local businesses who generously contributed raffle prizes, including Audi, Thermae Bath Spa, Mr B’s Emporium, The Somerset Toiletry Company, Butterfly, Nespresso, Theatre Royal, Lush, The Forum, The Pig, Bath Rugby, and Fudge Kitchen Ltd.
The Hospital Director commented: "What a wonderful evening celebrating the incredible team at Sulis Hospital. It was a joy to come together and reflect on everything that has been achieved this year - from expanding our services and welcoming new colleagues to receiving excellent patient feedback and continuing to deliver outstanding patient care every single day. None of this would be possible without the passion, professionalism and teamwork that define Sulis Hospital."
He continued: "A huge thank you to everyone who helped to make this year a success and for the incredible work you all do. I'm so proud of all we've accomplished together and excited for what's to come."
Carol from the patient advisory team, who received the Private Patient Team Award, adds: “It is a real honour to have received this award for the private patient team. Our team really does work at its best to ensure that patients have a bespoke service and experience here at Sulis Hospital.”
