Dr Tania Pawade
Consultant Cardiologist
Dr Tania Pawade is a Consultant Cardiologist with a broad range of experience in all aspects of cardiology. She specialises in the management of heart failure, heart rhythm abnormalities and the implantation of cardiac devices.
Dr Pawade is the lead for the development of the cardiac rhythm management service at the Royal United Hospital Bath. She is passionate about ensuring that all patients have access to high-quality care. Her appointment as a consultant led to the routine implantation of specialised pacemakers at the RUH to prevent and treat heart failure. She has also introduced several measures to improve patient safety and experience.
She graduated from Birmingham University in 2005 with honours in medicine and First class honours in Biomedical Science. She began her cardiology training in Birmingham before achieving a scholarship to undertake her PhD at the University of Edinburgh where then she then completed her training. She travelled to Melbourne in 2020 to undertake a prestigious international fellowship in Cardiac rhythm management.

Research interests
As an undergraduate, Tania received a scholarship to undertake a Biomedical Science Degree in Pathological studies for which she received First Class honours. Then in 2014 Tania was awarded a British Heart Foundation Scholarship to undertake a PhD at the University of Edinburgh followed by a prestigious BHF clinical research training fellowship.
She completed her PhD in 2017 and to date has co-authored 40 papers, many in high impact journals including the Lancet and New England Journal of Medicine. Her research has had a profound impact on the management of heart valve disease across the world informing the most recent American Heart Association guidelines.
