Mr Mike Williamson
Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon
Mike Williamson is a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon at Sulis Hospital Bath as well as Consultant Surgeon and Lead Clinician at the Royal United Hospital, Bath. He is the Clinical Lead for the Department of General Surgery at the Royal United Hospital and is also a Clinical Teacher at University of Bristol Medical Academy.
Having graduated at the University of Wales (Cardiff) with intercalated Bsc (Hons) in Physiology, Mr Williamson carried out his Junior Surgical Training in South Wales before qualifying as Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of London. He then took up a research post studying the functional results of surgery for ulcerative colitis including ileoanal pouch function at the General Infirmary in Leeds, which led to the award of an MD.
He then continued his senior surgical training on the West Yorkshire SpR Rotation achieving Fellow of the Joint UK Royal of Surgeons (Gen) and Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in 1997 before spending a colorectal fellowship year in Concord Hospital, Sydney.
Mr Williamson returned to Yorkshire in 1998 to complete his training and was appointed as Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon in Bath a year later.
