Professor Raj Persad is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist at Southmead Hospital.
He specialises in general urological conditions including more specialist areas such as, pelvic cancer and precise surgical techniques which improve both cancer survival and functional outcomes.
Professor Persad is a national pioneer in minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of benign prostate disease (BPH) as an alternative to TURP. These techniques include the Urolift procedure, REZUM (steam treatment of the prostate) and Green Light Laser, as well as traditional TURP, if tablet therapy has failed or cannot be tolerated by the patient.
Prof Persad is also a leader in the treatment of Erectile Dysfunction. If treatment with tablets or medical devices haven’t proved successful, he can offer surgery using state-of-the-art penile prosthetic devices. He also treat Peyronie’s disorder, offering injection treatments in its early phases, and surgical correction if this fails.
