Mr Dominic Ayers

Consultant Plastic Surgeon

Mr Dominic Ayers is a skin cancer and skin lesion consultant at Sulis Hospital Bath. He is a qualified Consultant Plastic Surgeon and is a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of skin lesions. His particular interest is in BCC (Basal Cell Cancer), moles, Melanoma and SCC (Squamous Cell Cancer). He sees patients for the diagnosis and treatment of harmless but unwanted skin lesions, as well as those with suspected cancer.

Dominic runs the mole mapping service at CircleBath which screens for potentially harmful moles and skin cancer. He has many patients with sun damage and employs a number of treatments both surgical and non-surgical.

Mr Ayers studied medicine at Cambridge University where he graduated with honours before serving as a surgeon in the Royal Navy. He later returned to hospitals in the UK in order to specialise in plastic surgery. He has undertaken fellowships in plastic surgery both in South Africa and in London.

During his higher surgical training he was awarded the Fellow Royal College of Surgeons (Plastic Surgery) and entered onto the GMC's specialist register for Plastic and Reconstructive surgery.

Mr Ayers now works as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Southmead Hospital, Bristol and The Royal United Hospital, Bath where again, his elective practice is treating only skin lesions and skin cancer. He enjoys spending time getting to know and understand his patients and believes in personal and professional care.

He does not treat dermatological conditions (rashes, eczema, psoriasis or allergy/patch testing). Please see under Dermatologists for these.

Mr Ayers receives referrals from GPs as well as welcoming patients with skin lesion concerns who have not seen their GP. He also receives referrals from other specialists for skin lesions and cancers.

As a specialist skin surgeon he treats difficult lesion in the skin of the nose, ears, lips and scalp, which are commonly passed on to him by other consultants.
