Hip dislocation

Hip dislocation is a rare event and happens when the ball/head of the femur is not in contact with the cup/socket in the new joint.

There is between a one in 20 and 1 in 50 risk of hip dislocation happening within the first 5 years following hip replacement surgery. It is usually a one-off occurrence that requires a relocation under anaesthetic as an emergency. Sometimes it can signify a problem with the joint requiring revision surgery.

Whatever the cause of your hip problems, we can help. Our orthopaedic consultants and sports medicine doctors will examine your hip and recommend the appropriate treatment.
