I have been a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon since 1991. I trained in London, Leeds and Boston USA.
My NHS practice has been based at Bristol Royal infirmary and my private practice at Sulis Hospital Bath. My experience is in colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic floor problems. I have extensive experience in minor anorectal conditions and endoscopy.
I have an Honorary Lectureship at Bristol University. I have been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training throughout my career. I lead the Anorectal Physiology Service which provides a major centre for evaluation and treatment of functional bowel disease. I have extensive experience in the treatment of faecal incontinence and sacral neuromodulation.
I have an extensive medicolegal practice and have provided expert evidence for over 20 years to Court, The Coroners Court and the Healthservice Ombudsman.

I enjoy long walks in the country, skiing and undertaking adventure travel Places visited include Nepal, Kenya, Madagascar south America and Siberia.
My other main passion is flying, particularly vintage aircraft. I spent a summer learning to fly a 1944 Spitfire.
