Mr Jonathan Luck

Consultant Ophthalmologist

Mr Jon Luck is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Sulis Hospital Bath and at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. He trained at Manchester University and went on to teach Human Anatomy and Cell Biology to medical students in Liverpool.

After this he joined the renowned St Paul's Eye Unit in Liverpool to begin his post-graduate Opthalmic training followed by further training at St James' Hospital, the General Infirmary in Leeds, and the Bradford Royal Infirmary.

Mr Luck's interest in corneal surgery and treatment of corneal problems began here, and in 1994 he studied in Australia at the Flinders Medical Centre under the mentorship of Professor Doug Coster, a world expert in corneal disease. As well as teaching Australian interns 'keyhole' phakoemulsification cataract surgery, he undertook a research program into corneal grafting.

Mr Luck's main interest lies in Refractive and Cataract surgery and he performs high-volume cataract surgery, corneal surgery including corneal grafting, and squint surgery, in addition to a wide variety of other procedures. He also has a wide experience in various forms of refractive surgery. His expertise is recognised worldwide at National and International meetings where he often presents papers and lectures to his peers.

Many of his papers have been published in peer-reviewed journals.

Mr Luck is currently a reviewer for refractive papers submitted to the British Journal of Ophthalmology.

By Car

Sulis Hospital is located 6 miles south of Bath city centre. Travelling from Bath, head south west on the A367. After you pass the Audi and Mercedes-Benz dealerships on your left take the first exit on the roundabout into Wellow Lane. Then take the first left into Foxcote Avenue and the Bath Business Park. Sulis Hospital is located immediately on your right hand side and the entrance is opposite the entrance to Mercedes-Benz.


A visitors' car park is located directly in front of the hospital. This is free of charge to patients and visitors.

By Public Transport

There are regular buses to Peasedown St John. Please note the nearest bus stop is a short walk.
